Youth Culture
Welcome!
Project Work
6th of March
We defined our topic and had a productive Brainstorming session. Still the
final topic was found on March 8th. We started the timetable for the next two
months. We had quite the bit of trouble deciding which topic we should focus on.
At first, we discussed if whether our project should be about purely designers
and fashion, and then comparing the likes of the Austrian with the Norwegian
design and/or designers. After we did some research we concluded with that
would be a quite narrow topic. After that minor failure, we found common ground
in the interest for the youth culture in Austria and Norway. This topic also
allowed us to look at different aspect of the fashion industry.
8th of March
Finalization of the timetable, printing of questionnaires regarding our topic,
which is youth culture and fashion. We started working on how to structure
the “sub departments” of the group.

Articles:
English Synopsis:
The Article tackles the topic of Fashion breaking the cultural conventions in terms of Gender, tradition and Beauty. Furthermore, it helps you discovering what you like and who you want to be/what you want to represent.
The article is easy to read

2) Kommentar von Konstantin Lerch
The article is addressing promotion of drug use in modern fashion and the hypocracy of the modern fashion culture.
After Raf Simons, probably the most relevant fashion designer of the last last few years, showed off his drug themed AW18 collection at a Catwalk in New York, it kicked off a debate about drug references in the fashion industry. Although brands like Fashion Criminal received a major shitstorm when they announced their MDMA themed t-shirts, Raf Simons’ new collection was met with critical acclaim. Which brings us to the hypocracy-part. Why can brands like Raf Simons do such things while smaller ones cannot?

3)Kommentar von Isabella Petje
The article says that the Austrian teenagers are one of the “most well-behaved in the world.”
It is said that we like to get up early and are happy to help with housework, it may be true for some teens but definitely not for me. This article also says that we only spend an hour outside and that we spend more than half a day motionless lying or sitting and still feel exhausted. Yes sometimes we do that but we also got a lot of work to do for school and then afterwards we need that.
